Welcome... please read and enjoy a brief outline of my life with horses.

For as many years as I can remember horses have been a major love interest in my life.  A few riding lessons during my pre-teen years only sharpened my enthusiasm, but school, marriage and children put my dream of becoming a horse owner on hold.

In 1992 we relocated to Peterborough when my husband started a new business.  We purchased a 76 acre farm just outside the city limits and to my joy the barn was already set up for horses.  This allowed my rather hazy dream to quickly resurface and become a reality.  In August we leased a horse and a pony from a local boy's camp.  Having Trigger and Merlin for the winter convinced me that my love affair with horses wasn't childish enthusiasm, but in fact, a serious passion!

In September my friend Michelle moved her Appaloosa mare, Starr (1982), to our barn.  We now had the three horses and I was ecstatic with my new life style!  In December Michelle, unselfishly, gave Starr to me as other commitments in her life were making it difficult for her to spend time with Starr.  For the first time I was a REAL horse owner!!!  Michelle made my dream of owning my own horse come true!  I will forever be thankful to her for trusting me with this wonderful equine friend.

Starr and I teamed up in the spring. She was very green and so was I!  With the reins in one hand and the "How to Ride" book in the other Starr and I traveled through the next few years taking lessons, competing at local schooling show and very much enjoying one another's company.  To date we have won or ribboned in eight different disciplines.  In the summer of 2002, at age 20, Starr became the mount for my Granddaughter, Sydney (1998).  Starr shows a patient, quiet side with her new rider, that to this day, she rarely shows me!

In 1999 Bruaskanz Kasztan (1989), an Arabian gelding joined the family.  Starr and I had discovered the exciting sport of Competitive Trail, but after a few seasons I felt she would be more suited to other equine activities.  Kasztan was brought on board to take over the long distance and dressage part of my horse life.  Although 10 years old, Kasztan had very little education which meant I was back to square one.  Michael Whitley of Quinte West Equestrian Centre was a huge help getting Kasztan properly started. Kasztan spent the winter at QWEC and returned home in the spring a more educated, confident horse who has since been a joy to own and ride.

My personal life includes my husband Bob (m.1971).  Bob is supportive of my horses and is always willing to throw hay and give water, but he doesn't understand the heart and soul commitment of a real horse lover.

My daughter, Kelly, although not a horse person has always enjoyed the company of our house animals.  She shares her life with daughter Sydney (1998) and two cats Mickey and Mini.  Sydney loves to ride Starr bareback.

Daughter, Jaime is not riding at this time, but before going to university she had wonderful success in the hunter and dressage rings with her Quarter Horse, Lacey.  Today she lives with her husband, Kiley, their daughter Olivia (2007), dogs Darwin and Lewis and cat Boots.

Our home is also shared with our Golden Retriever, Echo and several house and barn cats.
