Selling Consignment goods:

If it is your intention to sell your tack or riding apparel through the Clothes Horse Tack Shop it is very important that it be brought in clean and in good repair. It is quite acceptable to see some wear, but there is no excuse for not presenting clean and well conditioned items. Goods well presented tend to sell quite quickly while those in rough condition are slower to move and do not command as high a price.

Unlike many consignment stores I do not take a percentage of the sale, but instead I ask my consignees to lower their selling price to allow me to mark up. My mark-up must cover business expenses such as insurance, advertising, administration costs i.e.. Visa, interac and other costs. Once a consignment price has been agreed upon I will give the consignee a signed, written inventory stating the amount I will pay once the items have sold. All items in the store are insured.
